- We are the only builder in Calgary that installs an Active Radon Mitigation System, not only capturing radon gas and letting it escape, but actively removing it from your home through a dedicated radon fan.
- HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilators) further reduce indoor radon concentration by continuously refreshing and diluting indoor air.
What is Radon?
- Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is released from the soil when uranium breaks down.
- Radon is present everywhere outdoors but is a problem when it gets trapped inside homes – building up to higher concentrations, which are linked to cancer (it’s the #1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers, and the 2nd leading cause overall).
- Alberta (and Calgary specifically) has some of the highest radon levels in Canada.
- In our cold climate, homes are sealed tightly for energy efficiency, which traps Radon inside.
- While not all homes are affected by Radon, levels can change drastically over time – installing an Active Radon Mitigation system is best practice to ensure your home’s healthy longevity. Note: ventilation alone is usually not enough if levels are high.
- Stage 1: High-performance filtration captures dust, allergens and airborne particles before they circulate. We use a MERV 13 air filter (many new homes use MERV 6-8), ensuring airborne particles are captured.
- Stage 2: UV air purification neutralizes bacteria and mold within the system.
- Stage 3: Procell (photo-reactive oxidation) air purification system reduces odours and off-gassing from everyday materials, improving overall air quality.
- Our High-Velocity (high-efficiency variable-speed) furnace ensures consistent air temperature from floor to ceiling and circulates air consistently to remove more dust, allergens and moisture to reduce mold.
- HiV furnace results in less stagnant air, pushing fresh air through your home and maintaining consistent temperatures.
- Consistent, quiet, whole-home air movement that improves comfort and air quality while being more energy efficient.

- Pricing, including taxes and fees, is listed directly on our website.
- Select a lot, a home model, any design amendments you’d like – and receive an updated price (without having to enter your personal information).
- All information is provided upfront without taking your email.
- We’ll work with you however fits your schedule – by phone, in person or virtually.
- Our 24/7 Ask WestCreek tool is always on hand to answer any questions about your home build.
- Third-party inspectors review every WestCreek Home, an independent layer of quality assurance that most builders don’t offer.
- Four walkthroughs during the process of your home build: box-out, pre-board, cabinets, and a pre-occupancy walk-through. That’s more than your standard builder offers (typically 3). This gives you more opportunities to make any necessary amendments and stay in the know as your home is built.
- Receive regular progress reports with photos throughout the building process.
